Hey and a tip of the hat to everyone ! <- not supposed to use the exclamatory pointy guy, but what the hey. A question if I may. I note that a lot of folks here post a chapter or two on bebo. Why not Facebook? What's the deal with www.bebo.com anyway? Thanks in advance for your help.

I am a tad confused as to what you're asking. Bebo is kinda terrible for looking for honest crits. The most horrendous rubbish is usually given high praise and spammed. Bebo is about as helpful as a potato when it comes to writing. Back in the day, when I was young and foolish ( ), I posted a couple of chapters up there. That's not to say that all reviewers are bad... Besides, Bebo is kinda dying out in terms of usage. I didn't realise you could post stuff on Facebook?

Last year I submitted a few chs to AMAZON.COM for their sci fi contest. The top ten winners got a contract. I didn't make the cut, but I did get reviewed by three professional reviewers who sent me some surprisingly kind words.
I've also had kind reviews from an editor or two; right before they released all their authors from contract and closed their doors forever. It's been a rough year boys and girls.
What I'm mainly interested in is exposure (and sales of course). Any idea where I can go?

I'll answer the Bebo question first... (hello by the way!)
The Den was set up followjg the launch of the Bebo Authors system, and as such this was where our members came from. Chapters were posted on bebo and could be reviewed here. Facebook was just too alien for us back then. I'll look into it though, and see how feasible it is.
As for exposure, writers groups are a good idea. Social networking also helps if you're posting excerpts for free online and can send a link out. Also, enter competitions and submit to magazines and journals, so that your name gets out there.
Hope that helps. I'd write more, but I'm using an iPod...

It's true though. That's why we're looking for ways to become more independant of Bebo. It's annoying....

My girlfriend uses DeviantArt for her stories, I'm not quite sure how good that is for getting decent reviews, I mean I've seen her get the odd long message from someone going into detail about her character development etc. but considering she had dozens of stories on there already, it's hard to judge how frequent these reviews are for each story. However, she seems happy enough using it.
