I wish the Irish system was the same as the British. Your way is sooo much more fair!

But there are loads of set texts to choose from some harder than others and its your teachers choice. I'm doing modern poetry which is fine by me but the War poetry section for example is way easier and a lot less work than the Phillip Larkin module!

There are eight poets on our course, four come up on the exam. Which means to guarantee having at least one poet to answer on, you need to study five. And the prescribed poetry only accounts for 50/400 marks!
Then we need to study three texts under one common theme, cultural context and general vision and viewpoint. That's worth 70/400 marks
The Shakespearian drama (in my case) us only worth 60/400 marks! It's a single text you study, with a choice of four. One of them is Macbeth this year, with three more authors popping up too.
The comprehensions are worth 100/400 marks, while the composition is worth the same. It's a ridiculous amount of work for one subject, and everyone has at least six!

Ouch. My only Shakespeare question was the drama question in coursework... Merchant of Venice all the way!

Yup there is soo much work to do for the English exam, and the funny thing is that a lot of people take it for granted..."how can you study for english?" etc. I've found that just doing the homework well puts you ahead of the rest. I'm doing Macbeth

I don't have to do work for English. I just write stuff and it goes well. It kinda goes with all the writing I do - I'm never off the computer these days. I'm getting kinda worried that I really should've started studying by now.
I got 88% in my English mock. I was a teeny tiny bit disappointed cos I wanted one A1 that wasn't an OL subject. My crappy fairytale ended up getting me 92 so I was happy with that. I fell down on the functional writing, my art review thingy wasn't worth the paper it was written on.
I was happy enough with that. Got 89 in History and after that it all goes downhill, rather dramatically. Worst was 46 in Physics but still waiting on Geo and Irish.

Did you have a bad corrector or did it just not go your way? And it is only the mocks anyway.

All my results have come back. I got an A2 in history, which was fine because my document question was actually terrible. I only got a B2 in English, and i was disgusted! It was the highest grade in the year, but out of 100 scripts, you expect at least 15 A's. As i said the school has complained bout the eximaner, and my english teacher pulled me aside and told me that he, along with the other LC english teachers read my script and that it was worth an A1. But i'm not worried bout the B cos i know i did better than that.
The rest were fine. All Bs or Cs. I did get a D in Chem, but that was expected. I just wanted to pass the mocks.
I am having a mini-heart attack atm. I'm writing up my history project into the booklet and i can't find my review or my evaluatioon of sources!!!!! I might have to take 2mo off to rewrite them. The deadline to hand it back to my teacher is 2mo. Ugh, i shouldn't have waited until the last minute to write it up but I had everything done by the end of fifth year and thought they were all stored away neatly. Agh!

My mocks, so far, went dreadfully Okay, so I only got two results back.... 65.5% in English But our examiner really was so wrong. People lost marks when they definely shouldn't have... and I'm not even talking about me. My friend CiarĂ¡n had a few spelling mistakes in his essay... 3/10 for mechanics. WTF?!?!

Ah the evaluation of sources, etc, are handy. My doc question was a bit crap. Got 80 for it. 96 for my Hitler essay, 93 for Eucharistic congress and 89 for the Suffragette movement. That was all gravy. My English teacher told us our mocks were marked really easily. Ah well. I'll do grand in the LC. Afterall I only need 300 points. Easy.
What was your project on? I did Adolf Mahr. He was Ireland's number one Nazi. The book I got was really interesting.
The thing about mechanics is that some teachers aren't 100% sure of their grammar. Grammar is my strong point, I tutor people in it, but my English teacher often only gives me 4 or so outta six. 3 sometimes. It's not much, but every mark counts, you know.

Ours were rather harshly marked. Only two people in the year got an A* and only just!

My project is on the 1914 Howth Gun Running. I wanted to do something with a local connection, and I don't think many people will pick it as their project choice either.

Yeah, the mocks in my school were marked completely unfairly. No one could say they were especially happy with many of their results. I'm yet to get most back though Easter break in a week and a half and theose stupid people can't even finish correcting them!! Gah!!!! (okay, so I'm a little bit annoyed at them )
