I personally can't stand those sort of things. I liked Alex Rider to begin with but then I realised how stupid the storyline was. And then it spawned a wave of Bebo illiterates trying to copy it.

Ahgrhrghrgrhgr the alex rider books were hideous! The darren shan books at least had an original story. Although, that is all it was... story. Was about as deep as a puddle. Apart from the very last one, when he briefly brushes on the idea of predestination and god. Iain lent me some books, the "Stone" series. and they are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good

Gah! She's trying to usurp me as the annoying always online person! Get away! Get away! NEVER!! Mwahahaha. ;D And to Paul: I didn't say I hated them. It just gets a little annoying, reading a different book, but the same story. Get what I mean? And they're just running out of movie ideas, that's all. Notice a lot of books have been made into movies lately? Heck, even SHREK was based on a book!

How do all?
I'm Kev, 23 (which makes me feel incredibly old on this site) and I'm a massive fan of writing. Not put much of it online, in fact I only just started. Rather tentative about it really, no-one likes to be shot down, but I do want to improve so I'd like as many people as possible to read my stuff and say it like it is!
I'm going to try and read as much of everyone's stuff as humanly possible and let you all know what I think.
Thanks for reading
Kev

Hey don't diss Shan. From the sounds of things you haven't even read the new books. Really gory (always a plus!), it actually has a plot (albeit a really confusing one), the characters are developing, the villain is obvious from the beginning, but he can't do much except lose due to a bit of bad luck (plus he's weaker in our world than he is in his own) and it's really gory! (I'm aware I already said that, but in Book two someone gets their face ripped off and their brains eaten- in front of a fourteen year old!!)
To Chris- don't worry you'll be the most annoying person online. I kid! But you are annoying sometimes. That's someone elses que to cough 'hypocrite!'.
Alex Rider is the worst idea since people decided to enjoy the way ugly people look. This is in contradiction to the best idea ever - putting a bag over their faces! Anyway, enough slagging of people... Alex Rider, along with many female authors stuff (I speak of Maeve Binchy and Cecilia Ahern of course- the latter only got published because her dad's Taoiseach).
To Chris again- of course Bebo is full of illiterates. most don't use English properly, and I don't mean foreigners! i mean things like:
And then I said to him becoming n den i sed t hm
Shoot these people (methaphorically of course, or with cyber bullets).
And finally to Kev- welcome aboard. And don't feel out of place because fo your age. We won't hate you for it. Besides, there are older writers on Bebo. One of our members on Literary Mania is 42, so you're young compared to her.
This concludes my mindless yapping like a dog with a cat stuck up its ass. Thanking very handsomely (an old line of my form teacher)

I have read the darren shan books, in fact, i have them on my shelf now! I can even pick a book at random and tell you a line from a page and you can check if you like. I said they were nice stories, as you have agreed with me. I just said they were as shallow as puddles. Same as harry potter - nice stories, but no greater meaning.

Why stop at metaphorically? Let me get my hands on an M82A1A Barrett Sniper Rifle and I'll disintegrate some heads ;D

Trust me, this thing can demolish a block of concrete at up to two miles away. The .50 calibre round is designed to shoot down helicopters. It'll fly right through someone and explode in the person standing behind him. It's use as an anti-infantry ammunition has been banned by most civilized countries
I'll take the Barrett over a Scorpion tank any day.

Well i'm not sure about Halo 3 but the first two tanks had considerable range. Not to mention destructive power!
I'm going to go now. Got busy day with ATC in the morning. Bag packing at Homebase. W00T!

Heh... getting a little off topic, don't you think? If you want to start a conversation about something like this, please post it in the appropriate forum - this thread is for new people to say hi, and be welcomed.

Hi. I've been around for awhile now but i never properaly introduced myself. Well my name is Anthea or Demon Child as I call myself on bebo. I'm 18 and have been writing for quite awhile now. As you may have noticed, I can't spell for donkey nuts. Grammer tends to escape me too. My dream is to one day have some ramdomer i have never met or will ever meet, pick my book and say: 'Oh this is by Anthea West, hmmm yeah i like her books. I think i'll buy it.' If this was to happen i would die happy.
